As the UFC matchmakers undertook this search, Magny gave them some extra incentive to keep him on the card. In a post to Instagram the welterweight announced that, if the promotion was able to keep him on the Liverpool card, he’d donate $15,000 of his purse to the medical care of a young girl named Presley O’Doherty, who is battling a rare neuromuscular disorder called spinal muscular atrophy.

Jorge Masvidal and Neil Magny get heated over potential short-notice bout
Tom Taylor - May 3, 2018
When Gunnar Nelson was forced out of his UFC Liverpool co-main event showdown with Neil Magny, sixth-ranked UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal offered to step in and replace him. He only asked that this short-notice bout with Magny be contested at a 180-pound catchweight, as he wouldn’t be able to make the welterweight division’s 170-pound limit in time for the card. “My manager told me about [Nelson’s withdrawal,] and he was like ‘hey man, here’s your chance to smash Magny,’ cause he knows I don’t like Magny one bit,” Masvidal told BJPenn.com’s Jason Kindschy on Tuesday. “So he offered it to me, and he was like ‘what do you think?’ We’ll make it at a catchweight, cause I’m a little heavier right now.”

Report | Jorge Masvidal is keen to step in against Neil Magny at UFC Liverpool
Tom Taylor - May 1, 2018
Late last week, the UFC’s upcoming debut in Liverpool, England lost its compelling welterweight co-main event, as Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson was forced out of his fight with Neil Magny with an injury. “Unfortunately I have to withdraw from my fight against Neil Magny on May 27th in Liverpool,” Nelson said in a Facebook post shortly after this regrettable news broke. “Last weekend I injured my knee. I will undergo an operation right away and I’ll be out for 8-10 weeks. I’m sorry to my family, my opponent, my teammates, the fans and the UFC. This is a huge blow to me and I’m at a loss for words to describe the disappointment I am feeling. I was really feeling up for this fight, the training camp was going great and everything was just perfect until this happened. When all is said and done this is the fight business and injuries are sometimes an unfortunate part of it given the physical rigors us athletes put our bodies through. I will keep on evolving as a fighter while I’m on the sidelines and I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
Neil Magny explains why he's a supporter of interim title fights in the UFC
Tom Taylor - April 25, 2018
Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen quite a few interim champions crowned in the UFC, and many fans seem to be getting tired of it. Welterweight contender Neil Magny, however, is all for interim titles — like the one that will be awarded in his division at UFC 225, when Rafael dos Anjos battles Colby Covington for the interim welterweight belt. “I’m a fan of when the UFC decides to go with the interim title bouts,” Many told MMAJunkie this week. “For one, it gives the champ a rest and lets them enjoy being a champ. Two, it sets the stage to hash out that true No. 1 contender. We’ve seen in the past where guys are ranked No. 5, No. 6, No. 7 – and they get a title shot over guys who are ranked No. 1.”

VIDEO | Neil Magny Humbly Admits He Has 'No Advantages' Over Carlos Condit
Justin Golightly - December 29, 2017
We’ve all heard the usual pre-fight trash talk in the build-up to an event. Fighters waxing poetically about how they are going to knock out their opponent, predicting which round they may fall, or insulting their like of skills. You will not hear any of that from Neil Magny, who will be stepping into the cage tomorrow against Carlos Condit in his return to the Octagon. On the contrary, Magny is being completely blunt about his perceived chances. He doesn’t see any advantage he has in this fight, but that just excites him. “Yeah, [I don’t have] not one single advantage in this fight [with Carlos Condit]. I mean, reach advantage, cardio advantage, not a single advantage. Everything I want in this fight, we have to fight for that’s something I’m excited about. I’m going to win by going out there and being relentless. We’re going to fight tooth and nail for every single thing I want. I know every punch that I throw is not going to come easy, every kick I throw is not going to come easy, every takedown that I get is not going to come easy, so I know I’m going to have to fight for every single thing that I want in this fight. That’s what’s bringing out the excitement and that’s how Im going to win, by being relentless.”

Neil Magny Voices Disappointment in Attempts to Organize UFC Fighters
Justin Golightly - September 7, 2017
In just a couple of days, Neil Magny welcomes Rafael dos Anjos into the welterweight division at UFC 215. However, it’s in-fighting between other UFC fighters that is also on his mind. He’s tried to convince his fellow UFC fighters to form an unofficial organization of support, but unfortunately it hasn’t prospered as much as he’d like. The culprit according to Magny, is that most fighters are always stepping on each other for their own shots. “It’s not going so well at all, actually. It’s pretty sad that, like, the fighters’ biggest downfall is the other fighters. I know that people are like, trying to turn it into saying ‘it should be us against the business,’ but in the reality of the business, it’s just, fighters are looking out for themselves and are screwing over all the other fighters.”

bjpenndotcom - July 22, 2017
UFC welterweight Neil Magney has been absent from the Octagon since his UFC 207 win over former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks back in December. The win was a particularly impressive one for Magny, who defeated Hendricks in the former champ’s final welterweight fight before moving up to middleweight. The fight saw Magny return to the win column after having a 3-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Lorenz Larking at UFC 202, after picking up wins over Erick Silva, Kelvin Gatelum, and Hector Lombard. Now, after an eight-month layoff following his win over Hendricks, Magny has officially been cleared to fight once again.
Neil Magny pens letter to UFC roster urging fighters to look out for each other
bjpenndotcom - May 26, 2017
This past weekend, UFC fighters congregated in Las Vegas for a weekend with their peers at the first ever UFC Athletes Retreat. The event was certainly quite an interesting one, that saw two fighters involved in an altercation, an Anheuser-Busch rep allegedly present to the athletes drunk, and UFC lightweight Kajan Johnson calling out a Reebok rep in what ultimately resulted in a positive discussion between the UFC and its fighters. At one point during the retreat, UFC welterweight Neil Magny had an epiphany. He promptly attempted to pass through the proper channels in order to be allowed on stage with a microphone, however after Snoop Dogg and his security detail arrived, Magny wasn’t allowed to take the stage before the iconic rapper performed.

At first, Magny seemed to be down with the notion of this scrap. According to Masvidal, however, Magny refused to put pen to paper, citing an injury that will keep him on the shelf for some time.
