Former UFC welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz is hinting at a combat sports return.

Diaz (26-10 MMA) has not fought since September of 2021 when he went up against Robbie Lawler (30-16 MMA) at UFC 266. The result was a TKO loss for Diaz.

It was to be 3 losses in a row (plus 1 no-contest) for the fighter, his last victory coming via way of unanimous decision against B.J. Penn in October of 2011 at UFC 137. With the victory over ‘The Prodigy’, Diaz had an impressive 11 fight winning streak.

Following the loss to ‘Ruthless’, Nick Diaz officially retired from the sport.

Speaking with ESPN broadcaster Daniel Cormier after the fight, Diaz said:

“I’m glad at least I put on a show. I guess I had it coming.”

Well perhaps the retirement is over, as just yesterday, Diaz took to social media hinting at his possible return to the cage.

The 40-year-old Californian took to ‘Instagram’ with a training video and the following commentary:

Nick Diaz is a former welterweight title challenger under the UFC banner.

This is not the first time that Diaz has suggested he would be returning to the cage.

In May of 2022 he spoke with ‘TMZ Sports‘ saying he’d like to fight the now former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman:

“I wanna fight for the title. I don’t wanna do all this—I’m 38 years old.”
