3 Must-See ONE Championship Fights In 2025

By BJPENN.COM Staff - December 25, 2024

ONE Championship’s 2024 is coming to a close, but the promotion’s 2025 looks to be its biggest year ever.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon

Its biggest announcement has been the five-round flyweight kickboxing super-fight between former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Japanese sensation Takeru Segawa at ONE 172 on March 23.

The pair were first set to clash in January this year, but an injury to Rodtang forced him to the sidelines until the summer. He then returned in kickboxing and Muay Thai outings versus Denis Puric and Jacob Smith, winning both emphatically.

Meanwhile, Takeru lost but entertained at ONE 165 versus ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9. Takeru rebounded in a kickboxing war with Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81. Now that him and Rodtang both have momentum, their main event promises to deliver.

Before that, on January 24 Superlek defends his bantamweight Muay Thai crown against Scottish sensation Nico Carrillo at ONE 170.

Nobody has come close to holding a candle to Superlek and his 11-fight winning streak, which culminated in a 49-second masterclass versus Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168 to claim the bantamweight Muay Thai strap.

But Carrillo has also destroyed the opposition. He has knocked out all four opponents, including former king Nong-O Hama, Saemapetch Fairtex, and Muangthai PK Saenchai.

He’ll hope to shock the world and etch his name into history versus Superlek in January, while the Thai will look to solidify himself that much more.

Jonathan Haggerty Defends ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 171: Qatar

British superstar Jonathan Haggerty will also return to action in the first quarter of 2025. “The General” defends his bantamweight kickboxing gold against former K-1 World Champion Wei Rui at ONE 171: Qatar on February 20.

A former two-sport king, Haggerty is looking to make a statement in the bigger gloves, and Wei is just the opponent he needs.

The Chinese ace is a pound-for-pound great in the kickboxing world. He debuted at ONE Fight Night 22 in May, outstriking former bantamweight kickboxing king Hiroki Akimoto.

Despite all his accomplishments, illustrious gold is all he’s missing. But Haggerty will be desperate to add the icon to his resume.
