Fourth-ranked ONE atomweight contender Alyona Rassohyna believes she’s on the cusp of achieving her dream of holding gold in ONE Championship.

The Ukrainian standout battles #2-ranked contender Denice Zamboanga for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs. Abdullaev, this Friday, 10 January, in Bangkok, Thailand, at Lumpinee Stadium.

Becoming the atomweight queen is a lifetime goal for Rassohyna. Winning the interim strap will enable her a third bout with reigning queen Stamp Fairtex. And she isn’t about to let Zamboanga stand in the way of her destiny.

“I feel like this is a chance to fulfill my potential – and I will definitely do it. For me, this interim belt is one of the big opportunities, a chance to realize myself on the way to the [undisputed] belt,” Rassohyna said.

“I’ve been working toward this for a long time. I set a goal for myself long before I signed in this division that I would win the World Title, and my goals are materializing, so I’m happy with how much success I’ve had so far.”

Alyona Rassohyna unimpressed by Denice Zamboanga’s winning streak

Denice Zamboanga is riding a three-fight winning streak into ONE Fight Night 27. But Alyona Rassohyna is far from fazed by the Filipina’s momentum.

Rassohyna believes Zamboanga’s hype is far from reality. She feels “The Menace’s” recent opposition hasn’t been up to standard. And she insists her well-rounded nature will be more than enough to thwart Zamboanga’s World Title campaign.

“The work that I’ve seen from Denice in her last fights showed that the girls who boxed with her, they were worse in class and technically unprepared to fight her in stand-up. They didn’t have the setups or feints to create entries,” Rassohyna said.

“I call myself a well-rounded fighter because I can work both in stand-up and grappling. That was confirmed in my last two fights with Stamp.”
