Askren on ‘eye poking’ Louis Santos: “I don’t respect him”
Ben Askren is undefeated in his professional MMA career however in his last fight versus Louis Santos, Askren was poked in the eye and the fight was ruled a no-contest.
On November 13th Askren will get a chance to rematch Santos, however that doesn’t mean Askren has forgiven Santos for the first incident.
When asked about Santos on MMAJunkie radio, Askren didn’t mince words.
“I don’t respect him. I don’t respect him at all because he wanted a way out. The guy was faking like he couldn’t speak English, he wouldn’t speak to the doctor, and he was just being ridiculous in the cage. That was one thing. I was walking over to his corner saying, ‘Speak English. We know you speak English. You’ve lived in America for five years.’ I had mutual friends with the guy. I have a great idea that he understands English, especially with the limited vocabulary that is used in fighting.
“So, I don’t have a lot of respect for him. What he did was very unethical.”
