The Filipina meets Alyona Rassohnya for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title this Friday, January 10, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Zamboanga has studied the Ukrainian in the lead-up to the winner-takes-all encounter. Rassohnya’s grappling capabilities are supreme. But “The Menace” feels she hasn’t come up against a foe that can match her skill set. In fact, she aims to push Rassohnya past her limits.

“I want to test her grappling. I haven’t seen her face a pure grappler or wrestler, as she’s faced strikers. That’s why she always dominates the ground game,” Zamboanga said.

“She hasn’t faced someone like me. I want to prove that I’m better than her on the ground.”

Denice Zamboanga seeks finish of Alyona Rassohnya

Denice Zamboanga is desperate to get her shot at ONE atomweight MMA queen Stamp Fairtex. So she’s looking to win the division’s interim atomweight crown with style points this weekend.

She’ll have her work cut out for her in Alyona Rassohnya. But “The Menace” believes her talents have improved tenfold. Along with the confidence that comes with a dominant three-fight winning streak, Zamboanga insists she can stop the Ukrainian.

“Being a well-rounded fighter is truly important in MMA. You can’t just focus on one thing. That’s why I’m so confident coming into every fight,” the 27-year-old said.

“I’m confident that I’ll get to finish her wherever it goes, whether it be on the feet or on the ground.”
