Jake Peacock versus Shinji Suzuki set for ONE 171: Qatar

By BJPENN.COM Staff - January 7, 2025

Limb-different striking sensation Jake Peacock takes on Shinji Suzuki inside Qatar’s Lusail Sports Arena on Thursday, February 20, in a bantamweight Muay Thai showdown at ONE 171: Qatar.

Peacock entered the fray at ONE Friday Fights 58 last April. The Road to ONE: Canada winner wowed onlookers with a three-round showcase against Kohei Shinjo, receiving many plaudits across social media.

He was supposed to take on Suzuki at ONE 169 last November, but the bout was put on ice. So there’s no doubt the English-Canadian will be eager to make up for lost time.

Standing across from him, Suzuki is a battle-tested foe. He went to war with Suablack Tor Pran49 and earned a hard-fought victory over veteran striker Han Zi Hao along the way. But that doesn’t matter much to Peacock, who plans to make 2025 his breakout year.

“Ain’t nothing like it,” Peacock said on Instagram.

“Few big things coming first few months of 2025. The year for The One!”

Jake Peacock hunting top-10 name after ONE 171

Bantamweight Muay Thai star Jake Peacock is aiming for the mountaintop in ONE Championship.

He has lofty ambitions in the world’s largest martial arts organization. He promised victory at ONE 171: Qatar in February. After that, he wants to face the best name he can get his hands on.

“Mark my words, this next fight, it’s got to be business,” Peacock said.

“I’ve got to go in there, I’m going to put this guy away within two rounds. I’m going to grab the mic and I’m going to ask for a top-10 name.”
