At ONE Fight Night 20 on Prime Video last Friday, March 8, “The Queen” Phetjeeja found herself at the center of a historic moment.

The rising Thai superstar faced Janet Todd in a highly anticipated ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Title unification. This also served as the American striking icon’s farewell bout.

Todd aimed to conclude her illustrious career in storybook fashion. Little did she know that it would also be a pivotal juncture for her opponent, Phetjeeja.

“The Queen” had her eyes set on becoming the undisputed ruler of the division. From the opening bell, her speed and precision posed a constant threat to “JT.” She ultimately cruised to a clear-cut unanimous decision.

After the grueling encounter, Todd made her retirement official by leaving her gloves in the ring following an emotional speech.

For Phetjeeja, she will forever cherish witnessing Todd’s final moments in the ring.

“It’s such an honor to fight Janet Todd in her retirement fight,” she said.

“I’m very happy that I was part of her last fight, so she can remember me and I can remember her. It’s a historic moment for both of us.”

Acknowledging the caliber of her foe, Phetjeeja conceded that Todd brought out the best in her.

“Of course, there was a lot of pressure for me because [Todd] was also the champion. I just kept telling myself not to think about the fight and not to stress out as much and to just go with the flow,” Phetjeeja said.

Phetjeeja targets Muay Thai crown

With Janet Todd now retired, Phetjeeja sets her sights on furthering her legacy in the striking arts.

Having conquered one discipline, she aims to become a two-sport World Champion. Her next target is the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title currently held by Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.

“I think there’s a high chance of us facing each other soon, champion versus champion. I think it’s more likely that I’ll go for the Muay Thai belt,” she said.
