Stamp comforts Denice Zamboanga amid injury: “Wishing you a speedy recovery”
Camaraderie often runs as deep as competition. And this is evident in the comforting words offered by Stamp Fairtex to Denice Zamboanga.
Zamboanga made the difficult decision to pull out of her ONE Interim Atomweight World Title tilt against Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video.
This event happens on October 4 in U.S. primetime, happening at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The reason for this sudden withdrawal is a hamstring injury that will require her to undergo one to two months of therapy before she can even think about resuming her training.
Like many in the sport, Stamp is heartbroken to see her friend and former teammate sidelined in this manner.
“I’m sorry to hear about Denice’s injury. I was really excited about Denice’s fight with Alyona. It was a highly anticipated match,” she said.
The two athletes share a close bond, having trained together at Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand.
They were supposed to put their friendship on the backseat when Zamboanga earned a shot at the division’s lineal crown, currently held by Stamp, at ONE 167 on Prime Video this past June.
Unfortunately, Stamp was forced to withdraw from that bout. She tore her meniscus just weeks before the fight.
Stamp understands Denice Zamboanga’s unfortunate situation
The timing of Denice Zamboanga’s injury could not be more poignant for Stamp Fairtex. It echoes the struggle on her road to recovery and the emotional toll it exacted.
Despite their competitive rivalry, the respect they hold for one another transcends the Circle.
“I heard that she will need to rest for a few months before she can return to training. I hope she recovers quickly and can get back to training soon,” Stamp said.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery, my friend!”
