Valmir Da Silva in search of statement win at ONE Fight Night 21
Valmir Da Silva hopes to finally get his rhythm when he returns to action at ONE Fight Night 21 on Prime Video this April 5.
The Brazilian hard-hitter locks horns with Hiroyuki Tetsuka in a welterweight MMA bout. This bout takes place live in U.S. from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Da Silva’s journey in ONE Championship has been a testament to his perseverance. Despite facing tough opponents in his previous outings, he has shown glimpses of his immense talent and potential.
Now, with the opportunity to take on one of the division’s top talents in Tetsuka, Da Silva wants to make a statement.
“It’s going to be an interesting fight. I believe that whoever can control the distance better will leave with their arms raised, and I believe it will be me,” he said.
It cannot be denied that Tetsuka is riding a huge wave of momentum. After all, “Japanese Beast” has racked up four wins out of five outings in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
“Junior” acknowledges the formidable challenge Tetsuka presents.
“He’s a guy I admire a lot. I already had watched his fights before I even joined the organization. I feel like a boy fighting among my idols,” Da Silva said.
Analyzing Tetsuka’s style, Da Silva recognizes the unorthodox yet effective nature of his game.
“He’s a very skilled striker, an unpredictable guy, and has a lot of weapons in his striking. I’m studying his game, adjusting some things to be able to neutralize his striking,” the Manaus native said.
“He works a lot on his footwork, and I believe this is his most dangerous weapon in striking.”
However, it’s a puzzle Da Silva is keen to solve, knowing that victory hinges on his ability to decipher and counter Tetsuka’s approach.
“I’m going to attack with volume and try to do what no one has been able to do, which is put him down. Let’s put on a show for the fans,” he said.
Valmir Da Silva foresees himself winning in decisive fashion
Valmir Da Silva’s goal at ONE Fight Night 21 on Prime Video is clear — to become the first man in ONE Championship to finish Hiroyuki Tetsuka.
“I’ll try to defend his takedowns so the fight can progress with striking. I believe this fight won’t go past the second round. I’m going to try to explore knee strikes a lot too,” he said.
“The probability is very high that this fight will end in a knockout in the first round or at the beginning of the second round.”
