Victoria Souza is acutely aware of the challenge awaiting her at ONE 168: Denver this Friday, September 6.

Victoria Souza

The Brazilian heroine figures in an atomweight MMA tiff against Alyse Anderson at the 21,000-capacity Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

“Vick” has been preparing intensely for this matchup, and she acknowledges the difficulty of the task.

“I have watched [Anderson’s] fights. She is a very fast fighter, especially with her striking. She likes striking, she likes to respond quickly to blows, and she counters a lot,” Souza said.

Anderson presents an acid test that goes beyond the typical fighter. To meet this head-on, Souza has ramped up her regimen, focusing on refining every aspect of her game.

“I think what makes her dangerous is her speed. But she has a good wingspan in addition to her speed,” the 27-year-old said. “I think those are her strengths. But I don’t see her weaknesses. She is a complete fighter and very dangerous.”

Despite being known for her impressive striking and submission skills, Souza has taken her preparations a step further by enhancing her athleticism.

She believes that this added edge will be crucial in ensuring that she can adapt to any scenario presented by Anderson’s relentless style.

“I’m doing a lot of conditioning training. I’m much faster, and I’m stronger [than before]. And despite all of Alyse’s qualities, I believe that my qualities make me a better fighter than her,” she said. “My strength and speed will be my greatest advantages.”

Victoria Souza oozes with confidence ahead of impending clash

Victoria Souza’s confidence is buoyed by her recent success.

Last June, she achieved a monumental win by sending Itsuki Hirata to sleep with a guillotine choke in the first round.

This triumph has bolstered Souza’s belief in her ability to contend with high-profile foes, reinforcing her readiness for a duel against Alyse Anderson.

“She will feel the power of my strikes a lot,” shew said. “She will feel the power of my hands. So, I don’t know how, but I believe that will help me win this fight.”
