Recently Cain Velasquez withdrew from his UFC 196 bout with Fabricio Werdum with a back injury. Velasquez’ withdrawal ultimately led to the UFC booking Stipe Miocic as a fill-in opponent for Werdum, who then withdrew from the bout with a back injury. After a brief scramble that saw Nate Diaz offer to fight Anthony Pettis in the main event, the UFC promoted the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson to the main event, and moved the card to Fox Sports 1.

Recently Floyd Mayweather stated that he believed Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor are so adored by fans despite their heavy trash talk because of their skin color. While Mayweather certainly caught criticism for the comments, including McGregor stating that there are people buried in the desert for less, UFC President Dana White fired back at Mayweather with a very calculated response.

The hint of a comeback intensified on Thursday after a Quebec reporter tweeted that St-Pierre would be announcing his comeback in the coming days. However, the tweet that chirped a resounding message was muffled soon after.

Recently former UFC featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo took to social media to campaign for a rematch between himself and Conor McGregor. Aldo revealed that he wants a fight with McGregor regardless of whether or not it’s for the belt, and he won’t accept anything less. Aldo lost to McGregor in 13 seconds at UFC 194, which apparently leaves the UFC in a tough spot when it comes to making an immediate rematch.

On this day 4 years ago Chael Sonnen fought Michael Bisping in Chicago Illinois in the co-main event of ‘UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis’. With the win over Bisping, Sonnen earned himself a rematch with Anderson Silva after nearly ending the reign of ‘The Spider’ at UFC 117 in 2010.

The two will meet for the main event, but Daley already has a fight in mind that could be much a bigger draw. Donald Cerrone very well may have sparked a revolution when he posted a photo on Instagram of himself rocking Nike shorts and shoes along with a caption praising Nike. The post was an obvious slap in the face to Reebok, who recently fined Cerrone for a uniform infraction. Now, former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones took to Twitter to thank Nike for their wrestling shoes. In addition, UFC flyweight Ian McCall also posted a photo to Instagram praising Nike.
