I’ve done wrestling my whole entire life. So if anybody’s going to say anything, wrestling is my strong point. I feel my jiu-jitsu is better than my hands… I can only get better. Look at how much better I got in just three months of being able to focus on training. I’m still developing as a fighter; I’ve only had 14 fights in my career. The highly-anticipated showdown between Remy Bonjasky (76-14, 40 KO’s) and Tyrone Spong (68-6-1 42 KO’s) will take place on Saturday, March 23 at the Excel Arena in London, England, it was announced today by Glory Sports International (GSI), parent company of the Glory World Series. The bout had previously been set for February 16 but with Bonjasky being set to participate in the GLORY 4 – TOKYO: GRAND SLAM 16-man mega-tournament on New Year’s Eve, it was decided that February would potentially be too soon for him to get back in the ring. He will now have several more weeks to recover from his tournament bouts and get in peak condition for his first-time meeting with Spong.

I got a lot of fights left in me. I’ve still got the competitive edge and that’s what it’s all about. And I still love the sport enough to want to compete. See? You can love the sport, but if you don’t love the sport enough to compete you better get out of there. It’s been really good, it’s been a blessing in disguise. When I started the team up, when I joined, JZ, Villefort and Jorge Santiago…we didn’t know what it was going to create, but whatever happened..this synergy or whatever, everybody just came together. And now the team that has come about because of it is amazing. And I’m just happy to be a part of all of it.

“I’m looking at this guy. He’s not in shape at all. He has neglected his body. There’s no reason for me to judge him in the outside world. And people got upset at me for saying that because it was being blunt, or rude. Someone actually said that I was a ‘bully’ for doing that, so I felt that it should be addressed. …You have to be knowledgeable about martial arts, and you have to be able to physically separate people. You have to be able to move, and move very quickly. It’s a matter of the safety for all our fighters, and it’s very important.

Well, I guess this day had to come some time. Just wish it could have been on my terms but then again we all know that wouldn’t have happened because I would have always wanted just one more time under those lights. I am so grateful for the things this sport has taught me. The friends, experiences and most of all learning who I am. I am so lucky I have a platform to share these experiences and help others try to reach their dreams. I want to thank everyone that has helped me in this experience.

Hawaii’s “Just Scrap” Fight promotion returned to Maui for the third straight time this month with “Just Scrap Maui III: Grove vs. Cisneros” on November 9. The event was filled with fantastic performances from Hawaii’s finest up-and-coming MMA fighters and was capped off with a main event between Kendall Grove and Chris Cisneros.
