Patrick Cote vs. Alessio Sakara rematch set for UFC 158 in Montreal | UFC News

By Chris Taylor - December 15, 2012

A rematch between middleweights Patrick Cote (18-8 MMA, 5-8 UFC) and Alessio Sakara (15-10 MMA, 6-7 UFC) has been added to UFC 158 set for March 16, 2013 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Sakara thought he had earned a TKO victory over “The Predator” this past month at UFC 154 in Montreal. However, to Sakara’s displeasure, referee Dan Miragliotta disqualified the Italian fighter for illegal strikes to the back of Cote’s head, prompting the stoppage.

Sakara appealed the decision in hopes to have the bout overturned to a “no contest”, but that didn’t happen.

Now the two heavy handed sluggers will meet once again in Montreal to settle the score.

Prior to his UFC 154 disqualification, Sakara was coming off back-to-back losses to Brian Stann and Chris Weidman. Those losses put an end to a 3-fight win streak for the Italian, which included victories over James Irvin and Thales Leites.

Meanwhile, prior to his DQ victory over Sakara at UFC 154, Cote had suffered a decision loss to Cung Le at UFC 148 in what was his return to the octagon. “The Predator” had gone 4-0 outside of the UFC prior to his loss to Le.

UFC 158 takes place March 16th live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champ Georges St. Pierre and challenger Nick Diaz.
