Last night, in the second fight of the UFC Long Island main card, light heavyweight wrestler Patrick Cummins stepped into the cage with dangerous New Yorker Gian Villante. After three fun rounds of action, Cummins was awarded a split decision win.

While Cummins will leave Long Island a winner, he certainly didn’t look the part post-fight. Shortly after having his hand-raised, the badly bruised light heavyweight was carted off to the hospital, where he was examined for any serious damage. Along the way, Cummins shared an “ambulance selfie” on Twitter, which only served to illustrate how much punishment he absorbed en route to his split win over Villante. Shortly after sharing this “ambulance selfie”, Cummins also extended a hat tip to Villante, thanking him for the war, and suggesting they should won Fight of the Night honors – which instead went to prelim fighters Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Lyman Good.

With this win over Villante, Cummins moves onto a two-fight streak. His next most recent win saw him defeat Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz by majority decision – but not before sustaining similar bruising in the first round. Cummins’ last loss occurred in May of 2016, when he was TKO’d by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. This loss was preceded by another TKO loss to Glover Teixeira. Cummins is 10-4.

Villante, meanwhile, is now on a two-fight skid, having been knocked out by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in his next most recent fight. These losses were preceded by a thrilling win over Saparbek Safarov. He’s now 15-9 overall.
