Tom Taylor - September 24, 2018

Paulo Costa, an undefeated contender in the stacked UFC middleweight division, has big plans for his combat sports career. The 27-year-old Brazilian hopes to win the UFC middleweight title, then capture the UFC welterweight and light heavyweight titles, retain all three for a period, then retire from MMA and move to boxing. That’s what he calls his Plan A. His Plan B? He says he doesn’t have one, because a Plan B implies a failed Plan A.

Paulo Costa plans to wait for Yoel Romero to be ready

Tom Taylor - August 23, 2018

Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero were originally expected to fight at UFC 230 on November 3 in New York City. Regrettably, Romero will not be able to compete on this card, as he’s still dealing with a lingering injury. “Maybe four or five months [until I can return],” Yoel Romero explained on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show this week. “The doctor said, ‘Yoel needs more time.’ You know me. If you give me somebody, I take it. But you need to be smart. When the doctor says, ‘You’re ready,’ you can go. I’m waiting.

Paulo Costa confident he could KO Robert Whittaker or Yoel Romero inside 2 rounds

Tom Taylor - July 31, 2018

Back in June, in the main event of UFC 225, UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker stepped into the cage with Yoel Romero. Though Romero was not eligible to win the title due to his failure to make the 185-pound limit for middleweight title fights, the pair delivered an absolutely unforgettable fight, pelting each other with heavy artillery for five wild rounds. While this fight impressed most onlookers, however, it didn’t impress rising contender Paulo Costa. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Paulo Costa assured that, if he’d fought the version of Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero that fought at UFC 225, he’d have stopped both — before the third round.

Israel Adesanya says Paulo Costa probably isn't next, but expects to fight him multiple times

Tom Taylor - July 11, 2018

Israel Adesanya, who thumped Brad Tavares in the TUF 27 Finale main event, and Paulo Costa, who smoked Uriah Hall on the UFC 226 undercard, are two of the fastest rising stars in the UFC middleweight division. In fact, they’re two of the fastest rising stars in any UFC division. Given that they both picked up decisive wins over established UFC middleweights last weekend, many fans and pundits began calling for a matchup between them. Apparently, however, any potential fight between the pair is likely to occur later on.

VIDEO | Paulo Costa Offers to Fight Trans Woman Fallon Fox for Free

Justin Golightly - January 11, 2018

Paulo ‘The Eraser’ Costa may be wishing he’d have erased this latest video. On his official Facebook, Costa goes off on transgendered athlete and MMA fighter Fallon Fox. It’s unclear what prompted Paulo Costa to bring up Fallon Fox, considering she hasn’t fought since 2014 and is basically retired from MMA, but he had some very heated and controversial comments to say about her. Refusing to call Fox by her preferred pronoun, he even claimed that he’d fight her for free to ‘protect women’. “[Fallon Fox] was born a man, and he is a man, even though he calls himself a transsexual. It’s absurd cowardice, not only by him, but also by the promoters of any event that has accepted this kind of absurdity. He has simply annihilated the girls who have fought against him.”

Paulo Costa Wants to Break Derek Brunson's Face

Justin Golightly - November 9, 2017

Paulo Costa is a problem. Formerly ‘Borrachinha’, Costa now wants to be called ‘The Eraser’ and he’s earned it too. He’s undefeated and he’s finished all three of his UFC opponents. His latest victim was Johny Hendricks at UFC 214, who fell to strikes in the second round. Fans and media aren’t the only ones who are noticing, Derek Brunson called out the up-and-coming fighter on Twitter and threw out some steroid accusations, needless to say, Costa didn’t appreciate that one bit.    “I just saw on Twitter that he got data saying that USADA only tested me once and that, if I was tested more often, he could fight me in the middle of next year, I would tell him that he is a coward, a slacker. I don’t know where he got this false data from. Only this month I have been tested five times. And since being in the UFC, I’ve been tested 10 times. USADA and the UFC have this data. His bullsh-t argument makes no sense at all. I’m going to put my tests up on social media and I want to see what his excuse will be to continue running away.”

Paulo Costa responds to steroid accusations from Derek Brunson

Tom Taylor - November 6, 2017

Over the weekend, in the first fight of the stacked UFC 217 main card, rising Brazilian middleweight contender Paulo Costa stepped into the cage with former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks. Though Costa towered over the former welterweight, this fight stood out as one of the biggest tests of his UFC career thus far – and he passed it with flying colors. After a few fun exchanges, he put the former welterweight king down with a storm of second-round punches. This big win from Costa generated attention from many members of  The MMA community, including established middleweight contender Derek Brunson, who he called out post-fight. In a post to Twitter, Brunson suggested the chiselled Brazilian “100% on the juice,” and that he isn’t interested in fighting him.
