UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has clapped back at Sean O’Malley after ‘Suga’ criticized his ‘star power’. Sterling (21-3 MMA) was slated to rematch Petr Yan (16-2 MMA) in co-main event of UFC 272 this coming March. However, after Max Holloway was forced to withdraw from the proposed event headliner with featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski, the promotion decided to push the Yan-Sterling rematch back to UFC 273, this instead of moving the highly anticipated bantamweight title unification bout to main event status.

Sean O’Malley finds it “crazy” that Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling don’t have the star power to headline a UFC pay-per-view. Yan (16-2 MMA) and Sterling (21-3 MMA) were slated to co-headline March’s UFC 272 event in Las Vegas.

Petr Yan has given his thoughts on why his rematch with Aljamain Sterling was moved back to UFC 273 from UFC 272. This April, Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling will collide with the UFC bantamweight championship on the line. They had initially been scheduled to meet at UFC 272 one month prior as the co-main event behind Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway. Alas, after Holloway had to pull out through injury, UFC opted to change things up by booking Volkanovski vs Korean Zombie and Sterling vs Yan for UFC 273.

Aljamain Sterling took to Twitter this morning to confirm reports that his upcoming rematch with Petr Yan at UFC 272 may be postponed until April: “Yes, they’re talking about pushing my fight back to April,” Sterling said. “Not because of me. This is what I was told: “Yan isn’t vaccinated so he can’t fight in March”.

Two title fights have been announced for UFC 272 in March, including Aljamain Sterling vs. Petr Yan 2. UFC President Dana White revealed to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that Sterling will look to defend his belt at the event in a rematch against Petr Yan. In addition, Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway will also have their trilogy bout at the pay-per-view event likely to take place in Las Vegas on March 5.

Aljamain Sterling previously made claims on social media that Petr Yan uses PED’s (performing enhancing drugs) which at the time received a lot of backlash. Sean O’Malley has made it clear he wants to fight Petr Yan even if there isn’t a belt on the line. After Aljamain Sterling wasn’t medically cleared to fight Yan at UFC 267, O’Malley called out the Russian to step up on short notice. The fight ultimately went to Cory Sandhagen but for O’Malley, it’s still a scrap he wants. He knows it would be a fun fight for the fans and the way their styles collide makes it that more intriguing for him.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling trolled his rival Petr Yan with his latest injury news, joking that “doc says back in 2023.” Sterling defeated Yan at UFC 259 earlier this year via fourth-round DQ after the Russian was disqualified for throwing an illegal knee to the head of a grounded opponent. It was the first time in UFC history that a belt changed hands following a disqualification, with Sterling being crowned the new UFC bantamweight champion after Yan lost his belt. The two were then supposed to fight at UFC 267 in October in a rematch, but Sterling was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury. Instead of Yan vs. Sterling, the UFC called upon top contender Cory Sandhagen to step up on short notice. Yan ended up beating Sandhagen via unanimous decision in what was the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 267.

UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan had MMA analyst Daniel Cormier in tears with his interpretation of divisional rival TJ Dillashaw. Yan was on Fight Island last month to fight Cory Sandhagen for the interim UFC bantamweight title. Ahead of the fight, Yan met with members of the UFC broadcast team including play-by-play announcer Jon Anik and color commentator Cormier. Poirier was a guest on The MMA Hour and he was asked who he thinks the best boxer in the sport is. Right now, there are a lot of people who believe that Max Holloway is the best boxer in the sport of MMA. But as far as Poirier goes, the best boxer in the game is Yan.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor fired back at fellow UFC fighters Jorge Masvidal and Petr Yan during his most recent Twitter sparring session. McGregor often gets into it on social media with his fellow fighters, and that was the case again on Thursday evening when he got into it with Masvidal. McGregor had some strong words to say about “Gamebred” for pulling out of his upcoming welterweight fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 269, and the two then got into a little bit of a back-and-forth on social media. In addition to going back-and-forth with Masvidal, McGregor also had a surprising run-in with Yan, the interim UFC bantamweight champion. Conor McGregor commended the boxing abilities of Petr Yan, but added that there’s no one even remotely close to his boxing in the UFC. The former two-division UFC champion, McGregor (22-6 MMA), resurfaced on Twitter this afternoon and decided to put Jorge Masvidal on blast for pulling out of his fight with Leon Edwards.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling was not happy to see Petr Yan’s name included in the latest ESPN P4P rankings. Earlier this afternoon, ESPN released their updated UFC P4P rankings. The 10-fighter list was voted on by journalists Brett Okamoto, Marc Raimondi, Carlos Legaspi, Mike Coppinger and Jeff Wagenheim.

New UFC interim bantamweight champion Petr Yan issued a warning to “chicken heart” Aljamain Sterling following his big win at UFC 267. Yan defeated Cory Sandhagen via unanimous decision in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s UFC 267 card. The fight was absolutely phenomenal as both men went back and forth for the entire 25 minutes in one of the best fights of the year. But at the end of the five rounds, it was Yan who ended up getting his hand raised with three 49-46 scorecards.

Aljamain Sterling was impressed with Petr Yan’s performance at UFC 267. In the co-main event of the card from Abu Dhabi, Yan was facing Cory Sandhagen for the interim bantamweight title. Originally, Yan and Sterling were going to have their rematch but the champ wasn’t medically cleared. When he was watching the fight, however, Sterling was impressed with Yan’s technical approach.

The UFC was back on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi for a stacked UFC 267 card on Saturday. The event saw two titles on the line as Jan Blachowicz was looking to defend his light heavyweight strap against Glover Teixeira while Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen were fighting for the interim bantamweight title. UFC 267 ended up being a good one as in the main event Texeira finally became a UFC champion as he submitted Blachowicz in the second round. Yan, meanwhile, edged out Sandhagen by decision in a phenomenal scrap. Now, after the event, here is what I think should be next for the four fighters involved in the title fights.

New UFC champion Petr Yan reacted after defeating Cory Sandhagen to win the interim bantamweight title in the co-main event of UFC 267. Yan and Sandhagen met in the co-headliner of UFC 267 in what was easily one of the best fights of the year. Both men stood in the center of the Octagon and traded shots for nearly the entire 25 minutes in what was an all-out war. While Sandhagen fought as hard as he could for the entire five rounds, ultimately it just was not his day at the office. For Yan, he won 49-46 unanimously on all three of the judges’ scorecards to capture the interim belt. He will next face his rival Aljamain Sterling in a title unification bout sometime next year.
