UFC Vegas 85 Bonus Report: Randy Brown one of four fighters to take home $50k
The Octagon returned to Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 event, a 13-bout fight card headlined by Roman Dolidze vs. Nassourdine Imavov.
The middleweight main event proved to be a hard-fought 25-minute affair. Nassourdine Imavov was able to utilize his speed and quickness to get the better of Roman Dolidze in the standup for the majority of the five-round contest. Although the Georgian fighter was able to find some success in the clinch, it was not nearly enough to earn him the victory on Saturday night. Instead, it was Imavov who walked away with a pretty clear-cut decision victory.
UFC Vegas 85 was co-headlined by a highly anticipated lightweight bout featuring Drew Dober taking on Renato Moicano. The contest resulted in a back and forth 15-minute affair. Renato Moicano had a strong opening round, but Drew Dober seemingly rallied back to win round two. After some early success in the stand up in round three, Moicano was able to get Dober back down to the canvas where he proceeded to dominate the final few minutes of the fight.
Following the conclusion of tonight’s event, UFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that four fighters would be taking home performance bonuses.
Fight of the night: Flyweight fighters Azat Maksum and Charles Johnson each pocketed $50k for their thrilling war on tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 prelims. Johnson ultimately won the contest by unanimous decision (29-28 x3).
Performance of the night: Randy Brown earned an extra $50k for his first-round knockout victory over Muslim Salikhov (see that here). ‘Rude Boy’ dropped the ‘King of Kung Fu’ with a right hand and promptly finished the fight with one follow up punch.
Performance of the night: Molly McCann pocketed an extra $50k for her first-round submission victory over Diana Belbita in tonight’s featured prelim (see that here).
