Ricardo Lamas gets replacement opponent for UFC 214 in Anaheim
Originally, Ricardo Lamas was expected to take on a fellow former title challenger in “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung when the UFC touches down in Anaheim, California, this July 29. Unfortunately, the undead Korean was forced out of this anticipated featherweight scrap with a severely damaged leg. And so began the hunt for a replacement opponent for the ever-dangerous Lamas.
That replacement opponent has now been found.
Instead of The Korean Zombie, Lamas will now face red hot featherweight star Jason Knight. This news was announced by Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times.

Lamas will enter this bout with the rising Knight having recently choked out an over-weight Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira. Prior to this impressive win, Lamas gave up a hard-fought decision to Hawaii’s Max Holloway, who captured the UFC undisputed featherweight title just last weekend with a TKO defeat of Jose Aldo. Lamas’ loss to the new champ Holloway was preceded by a dominant decision defeat of former lightweight title challenger Diego Sanchez. He’s 17-5 overall.
Knight, on the other hand, will step onto the canvas on an impressive, four-fight win-streak. He kickstarted this streak with a split decision defeat of Jim Alers, built on that win by defeating Dan Hooker by decision, added even more wind to sails with a submission of Alex Caceres, and most recently defeated Chas Skelly by TKO. Knight’s last loss occurred back in 2015, when he gave up a decision to the veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri in his UFC debut. He’s 17-2 in sum.
Who do you think wins this newly announced featherweight scrap between Jason Knight and Ricardo Lamas? Will this one go to the prospect or the veteran?
