Jacare Souza inks a long term deal with the UFC
Current #3 ranked UFC middleweight Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and the UFC have come to an agreement on a new fight contract.
UFC President Dana White posted a photo of Jacare holding his new contract with a smile on Friday.
Ariel Helwani also tweeted on Friday, “Jacare Souza has signed a new eight-fight deal with the UFC, per his team. The first fight of the deal is tomorrow. They’re very happy.”

Souza has gone 7-1 since joining the UFC ranks in May of 2013. His lone loss in that time came to current 185-pound top contender Yoel Romero via a razor close judges split-decision at UFC 194 in December of 2015.
Jacare’s most recent win came at February’s UFC 208 event in Brooklyn, where he scored a first-round submission victory (kimura) over seasoned veteran Tim Boetsch.
During his UFC career, the former Strikeforce middleweight champion (Jacare) has scored victories over Chris Camozzi (2), Yushin Okami, Francis Carmont, Vitor Belfort and Gegard Mousasi.
Souza takes on #6 UFC ranked middleweight Robert Whittaker this Saturday on the UFC on FOX 24 card in Kansas City, Missouri.
