It has been nearly a year since former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has fought in the UFC Octagon. For fans of Rousey, good news was released today by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani. It sounds like the former champion may be making her way back into the Octagon at UFC’s New Years Eve event on December 30th, UFC 207.

While Conor McGregor stated at the UFC 205 press conference earlier this week that he believes he is the reason for the UFC’s $4.2 billion value, UFC President Dana White seems to think that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is a bigger star. While Rousey has been absent from the Octagon for nearly a year following her horrific KO loss at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193, reports have begun to surface which state that Rousey will return by the end of 2016. In addition, Rousey’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, has stated that Rousey could very well return by the end of the year if negotiations with the UFC brass go well.

Given the length of the former champ’s layoff, many members of the MMA community were beginning to speculate that we’d never see her fight again. Yet a Rousey comeback is suddenly looking more and more likely by the day, and apparently, it could happen quite soon. The first whispers of the former champ’s return came from MMA insider @TalkMMA, who suggested that the UFC was working on a UFC 207 title fight between Rousey and the current champ, Amanda Nunes.
