Following Wednesday’s announcement of Ronda Rousey’s return fight agains champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, a photo of Rousey surfaced hours later, and she looks to be in fighting shape.
See for yourself how the former woman’s bantamweight champ looks as of yesterday!
Rousey hasn’t fought since she lost the belt to Holly Holm by knockout last year. Meanwhile, Nunes won the belt from Miesha Tate after Tate took the belt from Holm at UFC 196.
Rumors of Ronda’s return to the UFC have run rampant over the past week, and the news of her first fight since losing the belt was officially announced on Wednesday.
Rousey was the first woman’s bantamweight champion after the UFC bought and absorbed Strikeforce, where she held the belt as well.
Rousey tore through the woman’s 135 pound division ever since her octagon debut against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157, finishing six opponents in a row before signing on to fight Holm in November 2015. Holm handed Rousey her first loss in her MMA career, and Rousey has kept relatively quiet ever since.
Now with a title fight lined up against newly-crowned queen of the division Amanda Nunes, Rousey has an opportunity to not just get her MMA career back on track, but also pick up UFC gold once again.
However, not everyone in her division is happy about the decision to give Rousey a title shot coming off of such a brutal loss. Julianna Pena vocalized her contempt for the idea, as ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ was angling for her own title shot while riding high on a four-fight win streak.
UFC 207 will take place on December 30 in Las Vegas.
Do you agree with Rousey getting an immediate title shot for her octagon return? How do you feel Rousey will fare against Nunes at UFC 207? Sound off, PENN Nation!
