Ronda Rousey makes her first quick comment on her UFC 207 return vs. Amanda Nunes
It has been nearly a year since we have seen the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey fight in the UFC Octagon.
On Wednesday, UFC President Dana White announced on “The Herd,” the highly anticipated return of “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey. The 12-1 former UFC champ will get her chance to reclaim UFC gold as she takes on the current UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in Las Vegas on December 30.
Rousey took to social media following White’s announcement with a promotional piece from the UFC.
Rousey captioned her post with all hashtags to begin her UFC 207 campaign, “#ufc207 #FeartheReturn #Dec30th #RouseyvsNunes”
The woman that transcended the sport of mixed martial arts will look to redeem herself from her last fight against Holly Holm where she suffered a devastating knockout loss in the second round. It was the first loss in her professional career and many fans are surely curious to see how she performs after being out of competition for over a year.
Nunes, on the other hand, will look to establish herself as a dominant champion in the division. The belt has switched hands at every UFC women’s bantamweight title fight since Holm took the gold strap from Rousey in 2015. Miesha Tate quickly ended Holm’s time as a champion by submitting her at UFC 196. Nunes then beat Tate at UFC 200 to become the current champion holding the belt. If Nunes beats Rousey, she will be the first female UFC bantamweight to defend the title since Rousey.
