In November of 2015, the previously dominant Ronda Rousey was knocked out cold by a second round Holly Holm head kick. Though it took over a year to happen, Rousey finally made her return to action this past Friday, when she took on reigning women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the main event of the action packed UFC 207.
Unfortunately for Rousey and her legions of fans, this fight could not have gone any worse for her. Moments into the first round, Nunes’ patented power punches had her on wobbly legs. Though she did her best to keep her hands up, and her legs moving properly underneath her, Rousey was ultimately put away by a swarm of Nunes punches just 48 seconds into the first round.
While this performance was tremendously disappointing for Rousey supporters, it was apparently quite amusing for those with no allegiance to the WMMA star – such as rising Bellator MMA welterweight Michael “Venom” Page, otherwise knowns as MVP.
In the wake of Rousey’s loss to Nunes, MVP has released a dance video called “Do the Rousey” which mocks Rousey’s ineffective head movement, and the stumbles she made when Nunes was able to land power shots on her. Watch it in full at the top of this article.
With her loss to Nunes, Rousey falls onto the first two-fight skid of her long and illustrious career. She’s now 12-2 in sum and 6-2 under the bright lights of the UFC’s Octagon. Page, meanwhile, is undefeated, with a flawless record of 12-0. When we last saw him in action, he stole a contentious split decision from Fernando Gonzales in one of the most forgettable fights of the year 2016.
Do you think this video is funny, or do you think MVP took it too far by kicking Rousey while she’s down? Sound off, PENN Nation!
