Rory MacDonald is “convinced” Robbie Lawler was on PEDs at UFC 189
Back in July 0f 2015, Canadian welterweight contender Rory MacDonald and then UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler co-authored one of the greatest fights in MMA history. In the end, Lawler would win this bloody battle, putting his foe down with a fifth-round volley. In the opinion of MacDonald, however, there should be an asterisk attached to Lawler’s TKO victory. He believes the former champ was on performance enhancers at the time of their fight.
MacDonald made this claim during a recent AMA on Reddit, responding to a question from user cczzrr.
“Do you think Robbie Lawler was on peds when you fought?” MacDonald was asked.
“I’m convinced he was,” he responded.
This, of course, is not the first time MacDonald has hit Lawler with accusations of this kind. Back in late summer of 2016, he made similar claims on The MMA Hour.
“Actually right before this conversation, something very interesting came up,” he told host Ariel Helwani. “We’re going to have to see where it goes, but it has something to do with my title fight with Robbie. There’s some very interesting information that came about.”
“I don’t want to speak out too loud about but it’s something that really grabs my attention and I think a lot of people are going to be very interested to hear about this if it actually is true,” MacDonald continued. “I have to do my research, but it could be a very big thing and it pisses me right off to hear about it, to be honest. I feel robbed.”
“Some [of Robbie’s] test results came out four times higher than the limit for my fight with him. Like I said, it could be bullshit, but we have to look into it. I don’t want to start pointing fingers or anything, but look at that team’s history. It makes me very suspicious.”
What do you think of these latest accusations from “The Red King” Rory MacDonald?
