VIDEO | Roy Nelson explains why he kicked John McCarthy
UFC heavyweight veteran Roy Nelson added another knockout to his resume at last night’s UFC Fight Night 95 event in Brazil, scoring a second-round finish of former title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
Nelson was able to catch Silva with a big uppercut late in round two that sent Antonio crashing to the canvas. “big Country” quickly followed up with some ground and pound which eventually prompted referee Big John McCarthy to step in and call a stop to the contest.

Nelson was not very happy with what he considered to be a late stoppage from the official and thus decided to flip-off and then kick referee John McCarthy seconds after scoring the finish.

In his post-fight interview Roy explained that Antonio Silva is a friend of his and that he was upset with veteran referee John McCarthy for not calling a stop to the bout earlier, as it forced him to deliver more punches to his already dazed opponent.
Roy Nelson would deliver a short apology to John McCarthy on his instagram following the fight.
