An unlikely duo recently teamed up together at the Houston Rockets basketball game.
UFC interim featherweight champion Max Holloway and rising star Sage Northcutt were in Houston to catch the game and made an appearance on the court. Holloway and Northcutt were saying hello to the camera when the Houston Rockets mascot decided it was a good idea to try and punk the two UFC stars.
“Clutch” agitated the two MMA fighters and eventually put on a giant pair of boxing gloves. As Holloway turned around to see “Clutch” with his dukes up, he dropped the furry foe while Northcutt went in and followed up with some elbows for good measure.
All in good fun, it is great to see MMA stars being highlighted at other massive sporting events such as NBA games.
Sage Northcutt is planning to continue on his UFC journey in the lightweight division after his welterweight loss to Mickey Gall at UFC on FOX 22 in December. Northcutt is 3-2 in the UFC, going undefeated in his lightweight bouts with both of his UFC losses taking place in the welterweight division.
Max Holloway in on a tear in the UFC featherweight division riding a 10-fight winning streak. Most recently, “Blessed” picked up the biggest win of his career by becoming the first fighter to finish former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in their interim featherweight title bout. Now holding the interim title, Holloway is looking to get a title unification bout against the undisputed champion Jose Aldo.
