Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall booked for UFC Fight Night in Sacramento
Mickey Gall’s campaign to fight Sage Northcutt has worked out for himself.
ESPN reported on Thursday that Gall is set to meet Northcutt in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night Sacramento on December 17.
Following Gall’s submission win over former WWE wrestling superstar, CM Punk, the young prospect called Northcutt out in his Octagon interview.
“I’ve got someone I want next,” Gall said inside the Octagon. “[It’s] the fight everyone wants to see. I want ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt. I think that boy’s corny and I want to punch the spikes out of his hair.”
“We’re Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight young guns, let us bang out. They say guys like us might get protection… f**k that, I want war!”
Northcutt, who has fought at both lightweight and welterweight in the UFC stated that knowing well in advance that he will be competing at 170 will only benefit him.
“All I can say is that I believe I have better grappling than him, and I believe that I have better standup,” Northcutt said on a recent episode of The MMA Hour. “I can take the fight wherever I want. If I wanna go out there and stand up with him and knock him out, I believe I can do that. If I wanna take him down and submit him, I believe I can do that also.”
“He was talking about my hair. He said he wanted to punch the spikes out of my hair, and looking at him, from the fights that I’ve seen and his pictures, his hair kind of looks like mine! He just doesn’t have the hair gel in it. I’m thinking he should maybe get some hair gel or style it or something.”
The event is set to take place at Golden 1 Center. As of this writing, the UFC has yet to announce what other bouts will be featured on the card.
