Adam D Martin - November 2, 2021
UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley broke down Saturday’s UFC 268 main card, saying that “I would love to see Colby Covington champ, dude.” O’Malley was originally targeted to fight Frankie Edgar on the UFC 268 undercard, but the fight fell apart when O’Malley said that he didn’t want to fight in New York due to high taxes. With O’Malley unable to take that fight, the UFC went ahead and booked Marlon Vera against Edgar instead. But while O’Malley is not going to be fighting on UFC 268, he is still paying attention to the card, both to the main event and to the Edgar vs. Vera fight, too.

Both O’Malley and Cruz were connected to a fight against each other, but ultimately the UFC decided to go in another direction for both men. However, that hasn’t stopped Cruz from saying that O’Malley declined to fight him. As far as O’Malley goes, that simply is not the case.
Sean O’Malley believes Dan Hooker deserves more recognition and popularity: “He should be more of a star”
Adam D Martin - October 10, 2021
UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley believes that Dan Hooker deserves more recognition and popularity, saying “he should be more of a star.” Hooker recently fought and defeat Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266 under less-than-ideal circumstances. The UFC lightweight contender got his visa on incredibly short notice, but despite the circumstances, he went out there and put on an incredible performance. A few days after that, Hooker decided to step up and take the fight that no one else wants. He will now fight Islam Makhachev at UFC 267 later this month. The fact that he is stepping up on short notice to fight someone like Makhachev shows how much of a stud that he is, and his fellow UFC fighters, such as O’Malley, have nothing but respect for what Hooker’s doing.

UFC bantamweight veteran Brian Kelleher says that rising star Sean O’Malley has accepted a fight against him after recently calling him out. Kelleher recently defeated Domingo Pilarte via dominant unanimous decision, and following the fight, he used his post-fight interview as an opportunity to call out O’Malley. We didn’t hear much from O’Malley at first, but after a fight against Frankie Edgar was scrapped when Marlon Vera got the fight instead, O’Malley had to move on and find someone else to fight. With Kelleher being available to fight now and with him already publicly calling out O’Malley, this fight made a ton of sense to book and the UFC has apparently booked it.

Adam D Martin - September 14, 2021
UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley says he plans on testing free agency once his UFC contract expires next year. O’Malley is one of the top young bantamweights in the sport right now, as well as one of the biggest stars in the sport. However, he has continually fought lower-ranked competition, with one of the reasons he is doing so because he believes he should get paid more money to fight ranked fighters in headlining fights. O’Malley is happy to be a member of the UFC roster, but he also hopes the company pays him more money going forward.
