Andre Soukhamthath is Leaving Instagram Because UFC Fans are Awful
Justin Golightly - March 14, 2018
When Andre Soukhamthath took a one-legged Sean O’Malley down in their UFC 222 fight, he probably didn’t even think about it. He was just going off of instinct. It cost him the fight, but the punches keep coming long after that bell rang. People have been trolling the UFC fighter relentlessly since then and haven’t let up yet. He’s got so much abuse that he’s decided to take a leave of absence from social media.

Former UFC Champion Gives Major Props to Sean O'Malley
Justin Golightly - March 8, 2018
It looks like we have another potential rising star on our hands, but there are a lot of people pumping the brakes. Rightfully so though, if you look back at the group of hyped prospects that have ended up being pushed too soon or falling short in the long run. Sean O’Malley sure seems to have all the tools, especially after UFC 222, but he’s only three years into this sport. However, anyone who doubts him can turn to former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, who is here to help convince you that O’Malley will be wearing gold sooner or later. If you can’t see him w/a belt around his waist you better get your 👀 checked. There’s real🔥 behind his flash. And he’s in a room where 🗣 is cheap & it doesn’t matter who you are or what you did, you’re pushed everyday by our brothers & sisters.#YouGotTeammates #WeGotBrothers https://t.co/Sk8vIcIQJb
UFC 222 medical suspensions: Sean O'Malley gets lengthy sit
Tom Taylor - March 6, 2018
Mixed martial arts can be a brutal sport, and UFC 222 was an excellent reminder of that fact. The Saturday night card, which went down in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured a number of the beatdowns and injuries characteristic of this racket, and several fighters on the bill received lengthy injury suspensions as a result. One of the longer suspensions to result from the card was levied against Sean O’Malley, who defeated Andre Soukhamthath on the main card – but not before badly injuring his leg. Frankie Edgar and Yana Kunitskaya, who lost by first-round stoppage in the UFC 222 co-main and main events respectively, are also facing long sits.

Tom Taylor - March 4, 2018
Last night, on the main card of UFC 222, red-hot bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley took his latest steps into the Octagon, this time facing the dangerous Andre Soukhamthath. Despite having his leg pulverized in the final frame – at which point a Soukhamthath win looked like it was only a kick away – O’Malley ultimately came out on top, as he awarded a decision win for his performance in the first and second rounds. Unfortunately, however, O’Malley’s leg was so damaged that he couldn’t even stand for his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

Andre Soukhamthath Vows 'Fake' Sean O'Malley Will Call Him Big Brother After UFC 222
Justin Golightly - March 3, 2018
There’s no mistake about it, Sean O’Malley has made fight week the ‘Suga’ show. He was heavily featured on the Embedded episodes, he crashed the open workouts when he wasn’t scheduled for one, even his media day outfit reminiscent of Hyde from That 70’s Show got some buzz going. Which is only fitting, since he’ll be releasing his own strain of marijuana at his after-party. His opponent Andre Soukhamthath is more than willing to take a backseat to all of this and take him out on fight night with even more eyes on UFC 222. “[Sean O’Malley] can talk all he wants. At the end of the day, he’s still going to fight, and when we fight, I’m going to make him my little brother. He’s going to call me big bro after this fight. I definitely feel like he needs to earn his stripes. It’s easy to get Dana White, Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard’s attention with a room full of 50 people. You’re fighting in the ‘Contender Series.’ You’re not fighting in the UFC.”

Sean O'Malley Predicts 'Best Performance' Yet Against Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222
Justin Golightly - February 27, 2018
If you didn’t know who Sean O’Malley was after his performance on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender series and the post-fight blunt sharing with Snoop Dogg, then you most likely found out about him in December of last year when he made his impressive UFC debut. He’ll get another chance to shine this weekend against former CES MMA bantamweight champion Andre Soukhamthath. In case you were wondering, O’Malley isn’t sweating it. “I feel like I’m gonna go out there, perform really well, and I don’t know if they’re gonna want to fight me. They’re gonna see how well-rounded my game is and I’m not gonna feel like I have a target on my back. Maybe a couple guys will be calling me out, but I haven’t really thought about it. A lot of people show up confident to fight me. They see me on TV, they see me in person, and they think, ‘Oh, he’s pretty fast.’ But once you stand in front of me, it’s a different level of speed that you just don’t understand. I told Terrion [Ware] before walking out, ‘I’m too fast, you’re gonna feel too slow.’ And at the end of the first round in his corner, he told his coach, ‘I feel slow.'”

Over the last few weeks, the MMA community has been buzzing about the possibility of undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. cutting a deal with the UFC and stepping into the Octagon. These rumors were started by comments from Mayweather himself, then thrust into overdrive by subsequent statements from Joe Rogan and Dana White, who confirmed outright that the promotion was in talks with the boxer. Since then, of course, Mayweather has assured he has no real intention of competing in mixed martial arts. That said, many fighters are still dreaming of the chance to welcome the boxing legend to the cage – and you can count bantamweight prospect “Sugar” Sean O’Malley among them.
