Sean O’Malley says Ilia Topuria “better hope he f*cking” defeats Alex Volkanovski at UFC 298: “He’s talking a lot of sh*t”
UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley thinks Ilia Topuria might be biting off more than he can chew, but he still wants that fight.
Topuria will be challenging Alex Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. The title fight will be headlining UFC 298, which will emanate from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The action will take place this Saturday night.
Ahead of the big championship showdown, Topuria hasn’t been shy in expressing confidence in his ability to not only dethrone “The Great,” but to make it look easy. O’Malley believes that Topuria could be setting himself up for failure, but he’s hoping “El Matador” wins the fight.
During a recent edition of the “TimboSugarShow,” Sean O’Malley said that Ilia Topuria better hope that he’s right, otherwise he won’t have a place in the featherweight title picture for long (via MMAJunkie.com).
“Ilia – is he going to get the f*cking job done? Ilia vs. Volk,” O’Malley said on his TimboSugarShow. “He better hope he f*cking does, because he’s talking a lot of games. He’s talking a lot of sh*t. He’s got a documentary going coming out – he’s got a f*cking movie coming out. He’s calling out Conor McGregor. If he goes and loses to Volk, he’s irrelevant. I’m not going to be calling him out. He should thank me for talking about him.”
O’Malley admitted that while picking against Volkanovski is tough, he wants to share the Octagon with Topuria.
“It’s hard to go against Volk, isn’t it?” O’Malley said. “I’m just going with Ilia because I’m going to keep manifesting that (Las Vegas) Sphere September fight.”
