VIDEO| Watch Stipe Miocic train in a ballerina's tutu

Tom Taylor - February 3, 2017

Stipe Miocic is many things. He’s the UFC heavyweight champion and, as such, the consensus best heavyweight fighter on earth. He’s a full-time firefighter. He’s a talented wrestler, boxer and baseball player. He’s also an aspiring ballerina – at least that’s what his latest post to Twitter seems to imply. In this video, the heavyweight champ can be seen sparring with a training partner, decked out in a tutu. The video is accompanied by the caption: “Best way to start your day is watching a video of me working on my footwork in a tutu.” If you say so, Stipe!

Fabricio Werdum not happy with rumored Stipe Miocic next fight

bjpenndotcom - February 3, 2017

In the wake of Cain Velasquez being pulled from his heavyweight #1 contender fight with Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 in 2016, there was much talk of who would get the next heavyweight title shot against UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. While many expected the UFC to give the opportunity to Werdum given that he is the former UFC heavyweight champion, and Velasquez was pulled from the fight on short notice, reports then began to surface that the UFC was targeting a fight between Stipe Miocic and former heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos for UFC 211.

Disgruntled Stipe Miocic calls UFC 203 contract "a slap in the face"

Tom Taylor - January 17, 2017

In September of 2016, the UFC touched down in Cleveland, Ohio – the hometown of UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic – with UFC 203. The card was headlined by a title fight between Miocic and dangerous challenger Alistair Overeem – a fight Miocic won via first round knockout. Despite being the champion, and the clear focal point of this Cleveland event, however, Miocic was soundly out-earned by his challenger, pocketing just $600,000 for Overeem’s $800,000. This, apparently, is rubbing the champ the wrong way.

Fabricio Werdum: it's time to "get the fight back with Miocic"

Tom Taylor - January 15, 2017

For most of December, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum expected to close out 2016 by rematching a fellow former champ in Cain Velasquez. The two heavyweight greats were expected to throw down on the main card of UFC 207 on December 30. Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, Velasquez was forced out of this anticipated heavyweight showdown with a back injury. Though there was a brief search for a replacement opponent, Werdum was ultimately left without a fight.

Junior Dos Santos wants Werdum or Miocic after Struve withdrawal

Tom Taylor - January 13, 2017

Until yesterday, Brazilian heavyweight Junior Dos Santos expected to return to the Octagon against Stefan Struve on February 19 in Halifax. Regrettably, however, Struve was forced out of this planned scrap with an injury, which left Dos Santos without an opponent. Still eager to fight in the near future, Dos Santos now has his eyes on two potential opponents. One is former champion Fabricio Werdum, who he knocked out back in 2008. The other is heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who he defeated by decision in 2014.

After Velasquez withdrawal, Fabricio Werdum calls for Stipe Miocic rematch in 2017

Tom Taylor - December 26, 2016

This Friday, the UFC will close the curtains on an unforgettable year with UFC 207. The card is a fittingly stacked one. In the main event, we’ll see women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes take on returning former champ Ronda Rousey. In the co-main event, meanwhile, dominant men’s bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz will take on undefeated challenger Cody Garbrandt. Elsewhere on the card, we’ll witness appearances from former champions like TJ Dillashaw and Johny Hendricks, who will be taking on top talents in John Lineker and Neil Magny respectively. Needless to say, UFC 207 is an excellent card.

'JDS' is not happy that the UFC is allowing "scared" Stipe Miocic to take a break

Tom Taylor - December 13, 2016

Today, the UFC heavyweight division is ruled by Croatian-American destroyer Stipe Miocic. Miocic won the title back in May, when he flatlined an overaggressive Fabricio Werdum with a brilliantly placed punch. The heavyweight king then made a successful defense of his title in September, when he delivered his third straight first-round KO against decorated veteran Alistair Overeem. In the wake of his knockout of Overeem, Miocic has elected to take a bit of time off to recharge his batteries. While he does so, the heavyweight division’s highest ranked contenders, Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez, will battle for a shot at him when he’s ready to return.
