VIDEO | UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic lands Modelo beer commercial

Conor McGregor isn’t the only UFC champion to star in a commercial for a major brand. Days after McGregor’s Burger King ad hit our screens, a Modelo beer commercial starring UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has begun making the rounds.

Miocic’s Modelo commercial comes a few months after the UFC inked a multi-year deal with the beer company. Miocic is the first of what we can assume will be multiple fighters to star in Modelo beer ads. See the champs’s ad, which focuses on his background, in the video at the top of this post.

“Modelo’s Fighting Spirit comes from pride in one’s roots,” the official description for this ad reads. “UFC Champion Stipe Miocic has risen to the top not just by winning in the Octagon, but by championing his heritage and his community.”

Miocic will next step into the Octagon at UFC 226, this July 7 in Las Vegas, where he will attempt to defend his title against reigning UFC light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier.

When we last saw Miocic in action, he stopped the thunderous hype train of Francis Ngannou in its tracks, winning a lopsided unanimous decision at UFC 220 in January. With this win, Miocic set the record for most consecutive title defenses by a UFC heavyweight champion, at three. In his next most recent defense, he knocked out Junior dos Santos in the first round. This win as preceded by a first-round knockout of decorated heavyweight veteran Alistair Overeem, and another first-round knockout over Fabricio Werdum, which won him the UFC heavyweight crown.
