Tai Tuivasa unfazed by current three fight losing skid: “I’ve been here before in my life and in fighting”
Tai Tuivasa is unfazed by his current three fight losing skid.
UFC Vegas 88 takes place this coming Saturday, March 16th at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is a heavyweight bout between Tai Tuivasa (15-6 MMA) and Marcin Tybura (24-8 MMA).
Tuivasa, 30, has had a rough go of it as of late, losing 3 consecutive bouts in the Octagon. ‘Bam Bam’ lost to Ciryl Gane (12-2 MMA) by KO, Sergei Pavlovich (18-2 MMA) by KO and most recently Alexander Volkov (37-10 MMA) by submission.
Tybura, 38, is coming off a TKO loss to Tom Aspinall (14-3 MMA) last July. Prior to that loss, Tybura had won 2 in a row, defeating Alexander Romanov (17-2 MMA) and Blagoy Ivanov (19-6 MMA) respectively.
Tai Tuivasa, speaking to reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 239 media day shared:
“There’s always pressure, but it’s no pressure I haven’t seen before. I’ve been here before in my life and in fighting. My preparation has been good, so I’m relying on that.”
Continuing ‘Bam Bam’ assures fans he’ll try to get the job done (h/t MMAJunkie):
“Marcin has been around for a long time – I’ve watched him for many years. He’s very experienced. I’m not going to be able to bring anything that he hasn’t seen before. I know his plan is to try to drag me through the rounds and then try to wear me down, I suppose. But this is the heavyweight division and I want to come down and come hard and try to get this job done.”
Will you be watching this weekend? Do you think Tai Tuivasa can get back in the win column by defeating ‘Tybur’?
