Tim Kennedy hints at fight with Chael Sonnen?

Earlier this week, UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy announced he would be returning from his 2-year hiatus for a “big fight” in the Octagon. With that being said, Kennedy didn’t disclose who his fight would be against, however many speculated that it would be a rematch with Yoel Romero, the man to controversially defeat him in his last fight.

The last time UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy was in the Octagon, Johny Hendricks was the UFC welterweight champion, Jon Jones was the reigning pound for pound king, and Ronda Rousey was still the UFC women’s bantamweight champion. Kennedy controversially lost the first fight of his career at UFC 178 at the hands of Yoel Romero. Fast forward two years and the popular middleweight is ready to return to the Octagon.

However, the UFC middleweight veteran has recently been campaigning for a fight with Anderson Silva and was emotional to say the least when he heard reports of Silva fighting Uriah Hall. After the UFC announced their partnership with Reebok, Kennedy spent the next several months refusing to support the deal while he sat on the sidelines. Part of the deal between the UFC and Reebok stated that fighters would get a certain percentage of money when fans bout that fighter’s “fight kit.” Kennedy went as far as to tell fans not to purchase his fight kit because he made pennies from the purchase.

Tim Kennedy hasn’t fought since his controversial 3rd round TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 back in 2014, however at the end of last year Kennedy announced that he would be returning to the Octagon, and gunning for PED users and TRT abusers. While Kennedy was initially lobbying for a fight with Vitor Belfort, the UFC decided to book Belfort vs. Jacare in what many assume to be a #1 contender fight.
