Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz exchange Twitter heat over possible rematch

By Tom Taylor - June 5, 2017

Over the last few weeks former UFC light heavyweight champion and bona fide MMA legend Chuck Liddell has hinted several times that he’s interested in making a return to the cage. A few days ago, the former champ through more gas on the fire by sharing a photo of him and long-time rival Tito Ortiz squaring off, accompanied by the caption “why not?”

Just like that, the MMA world was buzzing about the possibility of a rematch between the two legends.

Why not?

Apparently, however, Ortiz is not particularly interested in a do-over with Liddell, who he lost to twice many years ago. The recently retired light heavyweight, who recently closed out his career under the Bellator banner, responded to Liddell’s Instagram post on Twitter. His answer to Liddell’s “why not?” Because he’s retired, and he doesn’t need money badly enough to put the gloves back on.

This comment from Ortiz prompted a lengthy response from Liddell, who went off Ortiz for being a “piece of shit” – and then proceeded to take him up on his loan offer…

“We took the pic as requested by the media,” Liddell said. “You knew I was going to post it, u posed for it. I heard you changed for the better but with your lack of class and character i knew it was impossible. Some encouraged me to give you a shot saying Amber changed u. Judging from your tweet you’re still the same piece of shit I’ve punked on numerous occasions. Now we know who the real trash was, you can’t blame @jennacantlose any more. Man up! Now let me borrow some money bitch. Where should we meet up I need it soon!”
