Tito Ortiz reacts to Chael Sonnen calling him out
Earlier this week, former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen announced that he had ended his retirement, and signed an exclusive multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA.
While no word was given on when Sonnen would be making his Bellator MMA debut, he did reveal that he was looking to make his debut against former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, who is also currently signed to Bellator.
Ortiz, who has been absent from competition for a year now, is coming off the first loss of his Bellator career. The loss came at the hands of light heavyweight champion Liam McGeery, who submitted Ortiz in the 1st round of their highly anticipated title fight.
After hearing about Sonnen calling him out, Ortiz took to social media to respond the ‘The American Gangster’:
So "The Bad Girl"@ChaelSonnen calls me out!Payback is a great way 2 end of my career.Welcome 2 @BellatorMMA ass whippings come at a cost!👏🏼

Your mouth wrote a check your ass can't cash! @ChaelSonnen @BellatorMMA it will go down.I'm going to slap the gangster out of u.#BadGirlclub

While Ortiz would enter the potential bout on a loss, Sonnen would also be entering the bout on a loss. After a failed bid at the light heavyweight championship, Sonnen bounced back and submitted MMA icon Shogun Rua in the very first round. Following his spectacular win over Rua, Sonnen was TKOd by former UFC champion Rashad Evans in the first round of their UFC 167 scrap.
Following the loss to Evans, Sonnen coached opposite Wanderlei Silva on TUF Brazil. While the two were slated to fight following the conclusion of the show, Silva was pulled from the card, and Sonnen was suspended for 2 years for a failed drug test.
If Bellator decides to book Sonnen vs. Ortiz, how do you see the bout playing out?
