UFC commentator Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor had easier options for his return. ‘The Notorious’ has been out of action since his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021. In the main event of UFC 264, McGregor broke his leg in the waning seconds of the first round. As a result, the former dual-weight champion has been out of the cage for well over a year.

UFC President, Dana White, announced last Saturday that McGregor and Chandler will coach The Ultimate Fighter 31 (TUF) which is set to debut on Tuesday, May 30th and run through to August 15th of this year on ESPN/ESPN+.

Last week, the UFC announced that Conor McGregor will fight Michael Chandler after the two serve as coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. Tony Ferguson, of course, was previously listed as the most likely opponent for Conor, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The UFC returned to Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday for UFC 279 which was a much different card than originally planned. In the main event, Nate Diaz ended up fighting Tony Ferguson after Khamzat Chimaev missed weight by 7.5lbs for his scrap against Diaz. The Swede was then dropped to the co-main event and was booked to face Kevin Holland.

Tony Ferguson has reflected on his UFC 279 loss against Nate Diaz. Ferguson was expected to collide with Li Jingliang inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 10. That plan changed when Khamzat Chimaev missed weight for his previously scheduled outing with Diaz. The new main event of UFC 279 ended up being Diaz vs. Ferguson. The Octagon returned to Las Vegas for tonight’s UFC 279 event, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson. Tonight’s welterweight main event proved to be a solid back and forth affair. Nate Diaz got off to a strong start in the opening round, but ‘El Cucuy’ battled back in rounds two and three. Then, in round four, Diaz found a home for a barrage of punches which led to ‘El Cucuy’ shooting desperately for a takedown. Nate quickly sunk in a guillotine choke and the fight was over.
