Tony Ferguson hints at Khabib Nurmagomedov fight, visited by USADA
The ongoing saga between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov continues in early 2017!
Following Conor McGregor’s dominant win over Eddie Alvarez to claim the UFC welterweight championship at UFC 205 in 2016, there was much talk of a potential fight between #1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson for the interim UFC lightweight championship. While both men agreed to the bout on social media, Ferguson then put a hold on the plans as he revealed his intentions to hold out for more money.
UFC President Dana White then gave an update on the situation to media members, saying:
“So we were trying to make that fight — Tony said he will not do that fight unless he makes the same exact money that Khabib makes. Khabib has a different deal. That ain’t happening. Count that out.”
With that being said, both Nurmagomedov and Ferguson took to social media this past week to hint at a fight at UFC 209.
