Tony Ferguson pulls out of fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Evans vs. Teixeira new main event for UFC on FOX 19
Another injury has hit a UFC main event.
Tony Ferguson has pulled out of the UFC on FOX 19 main event against Khabib Nurmagomedov, which is scheduled for April 16th in Florida. UFC officials confirmed Ferguson’s injury that forced him out of competition with FOX Sports.
According to FOX Sports, with less than two weeks from the scheduled bout, Nurmagomedov will be booked to fight on a later date. However, various reports are suggesting that the UFC is looking to find an opponent for Nurmagomedov.
Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira have been moved to the main event spot. Also on the card, Lyoto Machida will take on Dan Henderson.
News of Ferguson being pulled from the card comes just a few days after Daniel Cormier had to pull out of the UFC light heavyweight title fight with Jon Jones that was set for UFC 197. Ovince Saint Preux now will face Jon Jones for the UFC interim light heavyweight championship on April 23rd.
