Tony Ferguson sends message to Khabib Nurmagomedov following their canceled bout
Fans were heartbroken when they heard the UFC had to cancel the UFC 209 co-main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
The #1 and #2 UFC ranked lightweights were slated to battle in the Octagon in a five-round UFC interim lightweight title fight. However, Nurmagomedov was transported to the hospital hours before the official early UFC 209 weigh ins “due to weight management medical issues.”
The two people in this world that are surely the most upset about the circumstances and bout being canceled are none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.
Following the news of his bout cancellation, Ferguson took to twitter to send Nurmagomedov a message.
Ferguson tweeted, “@TeamKhabib I Hope U Feel Better Khabib, I Pray For Your Recovery, I Mean It, Get Better #Road2Gold #TonyFergusonMMA #UFC209 @ufc @danawhite”

Quite a noble message from Ferguson given that so much was on the line in their interim title fight with a massive fight with undisputed lightweight champion Conor McGregor looming in the distance.
This is the third failed attempt at a Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson bout. The two lightweight stars were slated to meet at The Ultimate Fighter 22 finale Back in December 2015 but was scratched when Nurmagomedov had to pull out of the fight after suffering an injury. The two were rebooked to fight at UFC on FOX 19 in April 2016 and then it was Ferguson who pulled out of that fight with an injury.
Just a day out from their UFC 209 fight scheduled to take place in Las Vegas Nevada, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will once again have to plan to meet each other in the Octagon on another date.
