BREAKING! Stephen Thompson vs. Tyron Woodley 2 set for UFC 209 in Las Vegas
Stephen Thompson will get a second chance to become a UFC champion at March’s UFC 209 event in Las Vegas when he rematches current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
After some initial reluctance, Woodley just announced on his podcast that he will take the fight with Thompson at UFC 209.
The fight was first reported to be in the works for UFC 209 by our very own Chris Taylor back in December.
I jumped the gun with "headlining".. Apparently Woodley vs. Thompson 2 is targeted to headline #UFC209, Diaz vs. Lawler 2 would be co-main.

Woodley and Thompson first met at November’s historic UFC 205 event in New York and after five-rounds of action the fight was ruled a majority draw by the judges in attendance.
Shortly after the fight, UFC president Dana White announced that an immediate rematch would be booked to settle the score and now fight fans have that date, March 4 in Las Vegas.
Prior to his draw with Woodley, Thompson was riding an impressive seven-fight win streak which included victories over Rory MacDonald, Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger.
Meanwhile, prior to his five-round war with “Wonderboy”, Tyron Woodley was coming off a first-round knockout victory over Robbie Lawler which earned “The Chosen One” the UFC’s coveted welterweight strap. Woodley’s last loss came at UFC 174 in 2014 against former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald via decision.
UFC 209 takes place March 4 live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
