Tyron Woodley gives his take on Covington's beef with the UFC: 'People are going to see what the real deal is'

Tom Taylor - January 13, 2019

Colby Covington is not happy that he is not getting the next crack at UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley (that honor is going to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 instead). The former interim champ is adamant that he has been done dirty by the UFC, and despite the fact that he’s one of the most polarizing figures in the sport, a great many members of the MMA community agree with him. Tyron Woodley, however, does not.

Tyron Woodley calls Kamaru Usman 'a liar' after saying the fight is on, the two engage in lengthy back and forth

Drake Riggs - January 2, 2019

It seems like every now and then we will inch closer and closer to clarity in regards to the top of the UFC’s always stacked, 170-pound welterweight division. However, after looking like we may know the next title fight, the champion shut that down and fast. Top contender, “The Nigerian Nightmare” Kamaru Usman recently dominated former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos on route to a unanimous decision win. Thus setting himself up for a title shot or at the very least, one fight from it.

Colby Covington fires back at Tyron Woodley after Woodley claimed he turned down their fight

Drake Riggs - December 26, 2018

Booking a welterweight title bout seems to be more of a struggle than it should be for the UFC lately. With three fighters all in the immediate mix and their voices being heard when it comes to who and when they would like to fight next, there should be more clarity than there is. After capturing the interim crown in June, Colby Covington seemed perfectly positioned to face his former teammate turned rival in the champion Tyron Woodley.

Christopher Taylor - December 16, 2018

Last month UFC President Dana White told ESPN that former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz would return to the octagon at March’s UFC 235 event against Jorge Masvidal. Kamaru Usman reveals bout agreement for fight with Tyron Woodley

Drake Riggs - December 12, 2018

The welterweight title picture continues to figure itself out. And it looks like it may doing so without the likes of Colby Covington. As most everyone expected, the next welterweight title bout would surely be Covington taking on his nemesis in the undisputed champion Tyron Woodley. However, since Kamaru Usman’s continued dominance after defeating former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, plans appear to be changing.

I’m one of these guys, when I just see a fight like this, I want to see Usman fight now. We’ll see what happens, though I’m not saying that’s the case. Sure [it’s possible].
