On August 28 in the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view card, Woodley will make his pro boxing debut against Paul, who’s 3-0 as a pro boxer. It’s a highly-anticipated bout and on Thursday in Miami, the two had their first faceoff where Woodley decided to rap his song ‘I’ll beat yo ass’ to Paul.

Former UFC fighter Tyron Woodley hinted the Jake Paul fight is the beginning of a boxing career, saying “You’re gonna want to see more of it.” It was officially announced earlier this week that Woodley will be taking his talents to the boxing ring when he takes on Paul on August 28 on Showtime PPV. For Woodley, the chance to fight Paul in boxing represents the opportunity to earn a massive payday. Considering he’s age 39 and is coming off of four straight losses in the UFC, it was a no-brainer for Woodley to say yes to this fight and secure the bag. Of course, Paul and Woodley will headline a Showtime boxing card on August 28. It’s a stiff test for the 3-0 pro boxer and if he loses, he has the right to trigger an immediate rematch.

UFC president Dana White reacted to the Jake Paul boxing match, saying that “Tyron Woodley doesn’t look like the Tyron Woodley of the past.” It was officially announced this week that Paul will take on Woodley on August 28 in a professional boxing match on Showtime PPV. Paul has looked good in his first three boxing matches, winning all of them including a knockout win over Ben Askren in his last outing. Following that fight, there were rumors that he could take on Woodley next, Askren’s longtime friend and training partner, and the fight was officially booked this week. It was made possible to make because Woodley’s contract with the UFC recently expired following a stoppage loss to Vicente Luque and the promotion decided not to sign him to a new deal.

Thompson has fought Woodley twice in the UFC, the first time fighting to a majority draw and then losing a majority decision in the rematch, so he knows “The Chosen One” better than anyone. Recently, Woodley completed his UFC contract and he is now a free agent. One of the fights that have been bandied about for him by fans and media is a boxing match against Paul. At this point, we aren’t sure if this fight will end up happening, but based on their previous run-in, it seems as though Woodley and Paul are interested in it.

The UFC rankings have changed following UFC 260, with Francis Ngannou entering the top-five P4P rankings and Tyron Woodley dropping down. Ngannou brutally finished Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 with punches in the second round to capture the UFC heavyweight title. Following the win, Ngannou jumped eight spots in the promotion’s pound-for-pound rankings. He’s all the way up at No. 5 in the world now after the victory, with Miocic slipping four spots in the rankings down to No. 7 overall. With Miocic moving down, both UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moved up one spot each. Despite Jan Blachowicz beating Adesanya at UFC 259, he is ranked four spots lower at No. 8.
