Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson’s dad gets into Twitter feud with Tyron Woodley

Later this year, the UFC will have its historic inaugural event in New York when they hit the Madison Square Garden for UFC 205 on November 12th. The event is expected to play host to several high profile matchups including at least one title fight.

While there has been no official word yet on a fight which was expected to be between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, UFC President Dana White has recently stated that it will be Khabib Nurmagomedov who gets the title shot against Alvarez.

White followed that up by an appearance on UFC Tonight, in which he stated that McGregor will likely be unable to fight at UFC 205 due to a leg injury. Many expect the injury in question to be the foot injury sustained in his 5 round war with Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 202 last month.

The fight that has been made official however is Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson for the UFC welterweight title. That fight was announced after a period of anticipation during which it looked as though Woodley could potentially end up fighting former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre.

Now, with Woodley vs. Thompson set for UFC 205, Thompson’s dad has begun to engage in a bit of a Twitter feud with the welterweight champ:

Woodley and Thompson have a minor beef going back to when Woodley won the championship by knocking out Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC 201. Following the fight, Woodley spoke to Thompson on the Fox Sports 1 post-fight show to ask when the pair could have their fight.

Woodley shut Thompson down, stating that he could go fight Robbie Lawler because ‘The Chosen One’ had his eyes on either Nick Diaz or Georges St-Pierre.

Since the fight was announced however, the pair have kept trash talk to a minimum.
