Tyron Woodley is not a fan of the UFC’s pound-for-pound list

The UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings list is always changing. When Jon Jones was ejected from the list after his latest USADA-bust, the rankings endured another tectonic shift, and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley isn’t impressed with the way they ended up.

At present, the UFC’s pound-for-pound list has flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at number one, lightweight champion Conor McGregor at second, heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic at third, featherweight champ Max Holloway at fourth, light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier at fifth, and bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt at sixth.

Woodley’s issues with this arrangement are twofold. First, he believes that strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who has now defended her title five times, might deserve a spot inside the top-six. Second, he raises the interesting point that three of the six fighters on the pound-for-pound list – McGregor, Holloway and Garbrandt – have yet to defend their titles.

Woodley shared his gripes with the list on Twitter.

Woodley, of course, has now defended his title three times. His first defense was a draw opposite Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. His next was a decision defeat of Thompson. His third and most recent defense was a decisive decision defeat of grappling whiz Demian Maia. Despite this impressive run, he currently resides outside the pound-for-pound top-six, as he sits at number eight.

At present, Woodley doesn’t have a fight booked. The most likely options for his next defense include former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos, the winner of Stephen Thompson and Jorge Masvidal’s UFC 217 fight, or the winner of Colby Covington and Demian Maia’s October 28 showdown. The man himself, of course, is interested in heading to middleweight to battle the winner of Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre‘s UFC 217 title fight.
