Report: Today's UFC 200 press conference had SIGNIFICANTLY less viewers than the UFC 196 press conference

There is no denying that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is a huge draw for the UFC. Today’s UFC 200 press conference was apparently a prime example of “Mystic Mac’s” drawing power, as it is being reported that the presser received significantly less viewers in comparison to the UFC 196 press conference that occurred just over a month ago.

Perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz was expected to rematch current UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor in a welterweight bout at this July’s UFC 200 event in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for fight fans, McGregor refused to attend certain media obligations to promote the UFC 200 event and was thus pulled off the card by UFC officials.

Early Wednesday morning, UFC President Dana White was joined by Chuck Liddell, Daniel Cormier, Frankie Edgar, Jon Jones, Paige VanZant, and Miesha Tate on Good Morning America. The UFC President announced that Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier II would headline UFC 200 on July 9th.

The bout is undoubtably a highly anticipated one, and fills the role that was left after Conor McGregor was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor took to Twitter last night to announce that he was “back on” July’s UFC 200 fight card in Las Vegas. Well according to UFC president Dana White, Conor’s tweet simply is not true and the Irish superstar will not be fighting at UFC 200 on July 9. His words to TMZ:

Jon Jones became the UFC’s interim light heavyweight champion last night at UFC 197 in Las Vegas, this after he defeated “OSP” via unanimous decision in the evenings main event. Jones was supposed to rematch current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at the event, however “DC” was forced to pull out of the bout with an injury.

At the UFC 200 press conference on Friday, there was much speculation as to whether or not the UFC would make an announcement regarding who will fill the main event slot at UFC 200. During the press conference UFC President Dana White announced that after much speculation Nate Diaz will remain on the card, however White gave no word on who Diaz will be fighting.

Thursday morning Conor McGregor broke his silence regarding his retirement and his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 200. McGregor stated that the UFC’s media schedule for him ahead of the event was extremely tedious, and would have a significant impact on his training. McGregor believes that his media obligations ahead of UFC 196 sidetracked him from training, which ultimately contributed to his loss against Nate Diaz. McGregor left the ball in the UFC’s court, informing them that he is still ready to go for UFC 200, but he would not do the media obligations.
