EXCLUSIVE | Matt Brown gives his pick for UFC 204 main event Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson
UFC 204 takes place this weekend in Manchester, England as UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping looks to defend his belt for the first time and seek revenge on a familiar foe in Dan Henderson.
Matt “The Immortal” Brown was one of the guests along with Eddie Bravo and Bas Rutten who helped with the relaunch of BJPenn.com Radio on Wednesday.
Brown had mentioned that Michael Bisping is a true inspiration for himself and all MMA fighters. Brown said that Bisping proved after losing some fights throughout his MMA career, he was still able to reach the very top of the his division, winning the UFC title.
Brown was asked by BJPenn.com Radio host, “Kinch,” for his pick for the main event between Bisping and Henderson.
“Oh man. Henderson is one of my idols man. He is one of my favorite fighters of all time and I think he is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport, but I’m going to lean towards Bisping on this one. That’s only because I look at the two of them, where they have grown since the first fight and I see Bisping, he seems like the type to me that’s going to be hungrier, he’s gonna train harder, is gonna be more motivated.
“Henderson being his retirement fight, he might have trained hard too, but I see Bisping as the guy putting in more work in the gym right now and he probably did the first time too, though. That’s the problem with this synopsis. But, yeah, I just see him going out there being the hungrier guy. He’s probably been working harder and it’s probably going to pay off for him.”
Although “The Immortal is picking Bisping to win, he does feel that this fight has something special about it being Henderson’s supposed last fight before retiring.
“The thing to me about this fight is it’s got that, it does have that feeling man. The kind of thing that happens in this sport. There’s always something that makes a crazy headline. You know, you go on Monday morning if you missed the whole weekend, you know after almost every fight you go, ‘What the f–k, I can’t believe that just happened!’ It’s such a common thing.”
“For some reason, this feels like it might be Henderson’s swan song and we might be looking on Monday morning like, ‘Damn, Henderson did it man. Didn’t believe it was going to happen. To me, it’s got that feel to it, but logically I’ve got to go with Bisping but my heart is with Dan Henderson.”
Who are you picking to win the UFC middleweight title fight between the champion Michael Bisping and contender Dan Henderson? Will “Hendo” exit the sport with the UFC middleweight championship belt with another H-bomb KO over “The Count?” Or will Bisping be able to get his revenge on Henderson before he hangs up his gloves for good? Give us your prediction in the comment section on how and when the fight ends!
