A light heavyweight bout between former title challenger Glover Teixeira and Jared Cannonier will take place at UFC 208.
Glover Teixeira was last seen in action at August’s UFC 202 event where he suffered a shocking 13-second knockout loss to top contender Anthony Johnson. Prior to the setback, Glover had put together three-straight stoppage victories over opponents Rashad Evans, Patrick Cummins and Ovince Saint Preux.
Meanwhile, Jared Cannonier competed less than two weeks ago at the TUF 24 Finale event where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Ion Cutelaba. That improved Jared’s record to 9-1, his lone loss was suffered to former UFC heavyweight Shawn Jordan in January of 2015.
Also added to card is a key flyweight tilt between Ian McCall and Neil Seery.
Seery and McCall were originally scheduled to meet at November’s UFC Fight Night 99 event. However, the bout was scrapped after Ian McCall was forced to withdraw from the contest due to an illness.
Seery last competed in May where he suffered a decision loss to Kyoji Horiguchi in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Ian McCall has not competed since UFC 183 in January of 2015, where he suffered a decision loss to John Lineker in a catchweight bout, this after Lineker had missed weight by 4-pounds.
Neil Seery has stated that his fight with Ian McCall will be the last of his career.
