BREAKING! Stephen Thompson posts signed contract for UFC 209, waiting on Tyron Woodley

By Chris Taylor - January 8, 2017

It looks as if Stephen Thompson will get a second chance to become a UFC champion at March’s UFC 209 event in Las Vegas.

“Wonderboy” posted the following photo of a signed contract to rematch current UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley at UFC 209.

Obviously the one key element missing on the contract is Woodley’s signature.

The welterweight title fight rematch was first reported to be in the works for UFC 209 by our very own Chris Taylor back on December 12.

Woodley and Thompson first met at November’s historic UFC 205 event in New York and after five-rounds of action the fight was ruled a majority draw by the judges in attendance.

Shortly after the fight, UFC president Dana White announced that an immediate rematch would be booked to settle the score and now fight fans have that date, March 4 in Las Vegas.

Prior to his draw with Woodley, Thompson was riding an impressive seven-fight win streak which included victories over Rory MacDonald, Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger.

Meanwhile, prior to his five-round war with “Wonderboy”, Tyron Woodley was coming off a first-round knockout victory over Robbie Lawler which earned “The Chosen One” the UFC’s coveted welterweight strap. Woodley’s last loss came at UFC 174 in 2014 against former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald via decision.

UFC 209 takes place March 4 live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Who do you think leaves Sin City with the welterweight strap on March 4 if Woodley and Thompson throw down for a second time? Sound off PENN Nation!
